What to consider when
buying or selling used baby gear

1. Check if the product you’re buying or selling is regulated. Some baby-related regulated products include:
Car seats, booster seats, strollers, children’s sleepwear, cribs + bassinets, Playpens and Safety Gates are all regulated products.

3. Check if the product you’re buying or selling has all its original parts, and that they’re in good condition and in good working order.
Use the above links to search for the product you’re buying or selling.
4. Check the product you’re buying or selling has instructions for use and warning labels still attached.
If they’re not present, sometimes you can request these be sent to you from the manufacturer of the item. However, please do this before selling the product (this burden should not be placed on the purchaser).
5. Ensure the product you’re buying or selling is clean (sanitary),  and that it was washed/cleaned according to manufacturer instructions.
Some safety products, such as car seats, have very specific instructions for cleaning. Failure to follow these instructions can compromise the ability for it to perform correctly in the event of a crash.
